Event Waiver

Australian Ice Racing Insurance Coverage

Participants are covered by the Australian Ice Racing insurance policy for up to four (4) on-ice trial sessions conducted through the Western Flames Ice Racing Club.

I acknowledge and understand that insurance coverage is provided through Australian Ice Racing for a maximum of four (4) on-ice sessions only. Upon completion of four (4) on-ice sessions, I must become a registered member of Australian Ice Racing and pay any applicable membership fees to continue participating in Club activities under the insurance policy. It is my responsibility to ensure that my membership remains current and valid in order to maintain insurance coverage.

Acknowledgement of Risk

I acknowledge that participation in ice racing, speed skating, off-ice training, warm-ups, and related activities conducted by the Western Flames Ice Racing Club ("the Club") involves inherent risks, including but not limited to:

Falls, collisions, and loss of balance on ice;
Contact with other skaters, officials, barriers, mats, equipment, or spectators;
Cuts, bruises, sprains, fractures, concussion, and other injuries;
Risks arising from the condition of the ice surface, facilities, equipment, or weather;
Risks associated with physical exertion, training, and competition.

I understand that these risks may result in serious injury, permanent disability, or death.

Assumption of Risk

I voluntarily choose to participate in Club activities and accept all risks associated with my participation, whether known or unknown, foreseeable or unforeseeable.

Medical Fitness

I declare that I am medically fit to participate in ice racing and related activities. I agree to inform the Club of any medical condition, injury, or circumstance that may affect my ability to participate safely.

Release and Indemnity

To the fullest extent permitted by law, I release and discharge the Western Flames Ice Racing Club, its coaches, officials, volunteers, committee members, instructors, sponsors, facility operators, and representatives from any claim, liability, loss, damage, cost, or expense arising from or connected with my participation in Club activities, except where such liability cannot be excluded under applicable law.

I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Club and its representatives against any claims arising from my actions or conduct while participating in Club activities.

Equipment and Safety

I agree to:

Follow all instructions provided by coaches, officials, and Club representatives;
Wear required safety equipment, including an approved helmet;
Use equipment that is properly maintained and suitable for participation;
Conduct myself in a safe and respectful manner.

The Club reserves the right to remove any participant from an activity if safety instructions are not followed.

Medical Treatment

In the event of injury or illness, I authorise the Club to arrange emergency medical treatment as deemed necessary. I understand that any associated costs are my responsibility.

Photography and Media

I acknowledge that photographs, videos, and recordings may be taken during Club activities and events. I consent to the Western Flames Ice Racing Club using such images and recordings for promotional, educational, reporting, and Club-related purposes, including publication on websites, social media, newsletters, and other Club communications, without compensation or further notice.

Privacy

I understand that personal information collected by the Club will be used for membership administration, safety, communication, and insurance purposes and handled in accordance with applicable privacy laws.

Parent/Guardian Consent (for Participants Under 18)

I am the parent or legal guardian of the participant named above. I have read and understood this waiver and consent to their participation in Club activities under the terms stated herein.

Declaration

I acknowledge that:

I have read and understood this Participant Waiver, Release of Liability and Assumption of Risk.
I understand the risks associated with participation in ice racing and related activities.
I understand the Australian Ice Racing insurance requirements and membership obligations outlined in this waiver.
