Girls on Ice Program – Parent/Guardian and Skater Waiver

Dear Skater/Parent/Guardian,

Thank you for registering your child for the Western Flames Ice Racing Club Girls on Ice Program.

To ensure everyone has a safe, enjoyable and rewarding experience, please read the following information carefully. By allowing your child to participate in the program, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

  • I understand that ice skating and short track speed skating are physical activities that involve inherent risks, including slips, falls, collisions with other skaters, barriers or equipment, and other incidents that may result in injury.
  • I acknowledge that Western Flames Ice Racing Club, its coaches, volunteers and officials will take all reasonable precautions to provide a safe and supervised environment; however, accidents can still occur.
  • I confirm that my child is able to skate independently without assistance and is capable of participating safely in the program.
  • I understand that my child must wear the protective equipment provided or approved by Western Flames Ice Racing Club, including a properly fitted helmet. Gloves are compulsory while on the ice. Additional protective equipment may be provided or required during the program.
  • I agree that my child will follow all instructions given by coaches, officials and volunteers, comply with all safety rules, and behave respectfully towards other participants. Western Flames Ice Racing Club reserves the right to remove any participant whose behaviour places themselves or others at risk.
  • I confirm that my child is medically fit to participate and that I have advised Western Flames Ice Racing Club of any relevant medical conditions, allergies, injuries or medications that may affect their participation.
  • In the event of an accident or medical emergency, I authorise Western Flames Ice Racing Club to administer basic first aid and, where necessary, seek medical treatment or ambulance assistance. Any associated medical, ambulance or hospital costs remain my responsibility.
  • I acknowledge that Western Flames Ice Racing Club is not responsible for the loss, theft or damage of personal belongings brought to the program.
  • I understand that photographs and video footage may be taken during the program for promotional, educational and reporting purposes, including publication on Western Flames Ice Racing Club's website, social media platforms and in grant reporting. If I do not wish for my child to appear in photographs or videos, I will notify the club in writing prior to the commencement of the program.
  • To the fullest extent permitted by law, I acknowledge the risks associated with participation in ice skating and short track speed skating and agree that Western Flames Ice Racing Club, its coaches, volunteers and officials will not be held liable for any injury, loss or damage arising from participation, except where liability cannot be excluded under Australian law.

By attending the Western Flames Ice Racing Club Girls on Ice Program, I acknowledge that I have read, understood and accepted the above conditions on behalf of my child.

If you have any questions before the program commences, please contact us.

We look forward to welcoming your child to the Girls on Ice Program and sharing a fun, supportive and exciting introduction to short track speed skating.

Kind regards,
