Olympic short track skater Brendan Corey took time out from his World Championships campaign on the morning of Sunday 8 March to answer questions from our Western Flames skaters over Zoom.

Speaking from Canada, Brendan fielded questions on his race preparation, motivation, and his experiences competing internationally and at the Olympic Games.

Brendan generously shared how he approaches the sport of ice racing, even demonstrating some of his specific warm up exercises. His tips on rest and nutrition prior to races will also be very helpful to our athletes as they prepare for our upcoming race days and the National Championships.

Asked about pre-race nerves, Brendan admitted to feeling most nervous before his first race, but after that, whether it was good or bad, he felt better.

“But one thing I can say is that - go out there and have fun and don’t put too much pressure on yourself. And I think that is the best thing you can do. We’re skating because it’s something we love doing.” Brendan said.
